PHCC Construction Tech Students finished our first home in June, 2024.

This worthwhile community partnership is the culmination of years of work and planning. We are so thankful to have our local students doing this meaningful work, and to the enormous generosity from St Stephens and Middlebury Congregational Church and many others in our community who have given their time and money.

This is truly a community-supported endeavor!

Our 2nd Build

The Construction Tech Students have started the 2nd build.

We decided to seek out someone who wanted to partner with us as a client in this design and

Build process for our 2nd home. Kate Bentley is a single mom and lives with her daughter, Frankie, a student at Mt Abraham Union High School. They have always

rented and aspire to have a permanent (and portable) home, since Frankie is soon to head to

college. Kate is a Project Manager in her day job, and is going to help HomesfirstVT with lots of administrative tasks over the course of the build. She will be pivotal in helping us organize our volunteer crew for our 3rd build. This ‘sweat equity’ is her deposit for the home. This partnership is another way we are enacting our collaborative, collective effort to build homes for our neighbors from the bottom-up.

Our 3rd Build

Many folks have reached out over the past years offering to help our efforts in all kinds of ways. One of those generous folks is Ben Lucarelli. Ben is a retired craftsman and is willing to help manage a volunteer crew. We have been in conversation with a few local service organizations who might be willing to partner with us to build homes for their clientele. We are hoping to start this volunteer-crew build in the Spring, 2025.
